Unemployment rates as high as 12%
Our region also has the state’s highest teenage pregnancy and dropout rates
Raising Awareness
Poverty and poor nutrition habits have become accepted as a way of life in this region
Educating our future adult workforce includes essential life skills training
Using the total education team
Initiating Change
 Changing habits in the final years of school
Made fruit available everywhere in the building all day long
Expanded the breakfast program to the classroom
Full meal service before ala Carte purchases
Promoting the Eat Five A Day for Better Health throughout the building and targeting the cafeteria
